Eventic GH has officially announced nominees for the 2020 edition of the Volta Music Awards. The announcement was made publicly today after weeks of scrutiny and selection by the board. Musiciank, Jah Phinga is leading with 9 nominations including Artiste of the year category. The Discovery of the year is the category with the highest number of nominees showing increasing interest and growth of the award scheme instituted about three years ago. In a Facebook Submission  He Write's "Hello Volta Music Awards, I have an opinion to share on your scheme. Can you please find a promotional deal or management deals for most of the artist you nominate. Because as long as they get nomination it means they are good from your panel. I think artist using a lot of money to vote and getting only the plaque is not enough. And selecting just some categories for Gh¢1000 isn't enough too. If the scheme can create a platform for most of these guys for their songs to be promoted throughout the nation it will be a good thing. ‘Beyond the Return’: Afro-Nation Festival to stay in Ghana for 5 years

The Ghana Tourism Authority, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, and Event Horizon, Organisers of the Afro-Nation Festival, on Monday, 20th January 2020, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Ghana to play host to “the biggest urban music beach festival in the world” for the next five years. The MoU, which was signed by Mr. Akwasi, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and Obi Asika, CEO of Event Horizon, was witnessed by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in London, on the sidelines of the UK a Africa Investment Summit. The signing of the MoU is part of a number of plans Ghana is putting in place, as it kick-starts the "Beyond the Return" project. ‘Beyond the Return’ aims to engage Africans in the Diaspora and all persons of African descent more positively in areas such as trade and investment co-operation, and skills and knowledge development. A LOT of factors have been attributed to the decline of the movie industry and the low patronage of films but for pretty actress Jasmine Baroudi, unprofessionalism is a major reason the sector is not progressing. “I recommend that movie producers only put qualified or professional actors on the screen.There are too many unprofessional actors who are virtually doing nothing but call themselves actors, making the work so difficult for some of us,” she said in an interview with the Graphic Showbiz last week. I started becoming more spiritual when I suffered depression – MzVee

Ghanaian musician, Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, known in showbiz as MzVee, has revealed in an interview with Citi TV that she took church more seriously when she suffered depression a few years ago. She told Dziffa on Citi TV’s ‘Breakfast Daily’ that she felt good when she became more religious; going to church was one of the things that helped her out of depression. “I started becoming more spiritual and I realised that some people may not understand but going to church was so therapeutic,” she said. “I don’t know [but] when I go to church and I leave, I feel so happy,” she added. MzVee recently revealed that she went off the music scene because she was seriously depressed. According to her, she felt sick out of depression but feared to make it public because she did not know how the public would take it. She had also recounted that only person who helped her to get out of that unpleasant situation was musician Efya. She is currently out with a new single titled ‘Sherrif.’
